WHAT IS MICRONEEDLING?

Microneedling is used to treat and improve conditions like acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, loose skin, skin texture, pore size, brown spots, stretch marks, and pigment issues. The insertion of very short fine needles into the skin for the purpose of rejuvenation.

The premise is simple – create a small wound and the skin will respond with collagen production and new skin cells. Depending on the depth of the needle penetration, this can offer skin rejuvenation levels from the simple enhancement of product absorption to the clinical treatment of scars and wrinkles.

Both the Nano and Microneedling treatments use a pen like device that oscillates a tip up and down to stimulate a skin reaction. They both induce cell turnover, serum infusion and provoke the healing process that results in skin transformation.

Microneedling is a 2,000-year-old time tested treatment originating in ancient China. Emperors who wanted to live forever used this technique to remain youthful.

Wrinkles & Sagging Skin

Microneedling allows 3000% more product absorption.

Microneedling can be done on the scalp to promote hair growth or the body to get rid of scars and stretch marks.

Microneedling creates micro-channels in the skin. When those channels are created, the skin's own repair response is to start producing collagen and elastin, this is to heal that the controlled injury that was just created. That in turn makes our skin tighter and smoother.

Microneedling for Acne and Scars

Acne and Scars

Unlike Microdermabrasion which removes layers of skin; Microneedling creates channels in the skin for products to be absorbed and collagen/elastin to be produced.

Only a 40-minute treatment should be done once a month. Easy to do on a lunch break!

We use all holistic herbal topicals from AcuMicro. Our apple stem cells are shown in studies to promote facial stem cell rejuvenation over 80%.

Results are seen and felt even after the first treatment. Skin should glow and feel tighter. Maximum results are shown when patients do between 4-6 treatments. Results are shown to last between 4-6 years in research, without maintenance.

Hyaluronic acid used with Microneedling is all-natural and holds 1,000 times its weight in water. This allows for deep hydration, nourishment, and rejuvenation.

 Top 10 Benefits To Microneedling

1. REDUCES THE APPEARANCE OF LINES AND WRINKLES

No one wants to look older than they are. But premature aging that presents as fine lines and wrinkles does just that. The tiny injuries from a microneedling session boost collagen and elastin production to fight lines and wrinkles.

Collagen and elastin are compounds in your skin that add structure and strength, lending a youthful quality. The wound-healing mechanisms also stimulate your body to produce new skin cells, making fine lines, crow’s feet, and forehead wrinkles less apparent.

2. SCAR TREATMENT

Because microneedling stimulates collagen and elastin production, it’s also super effective in addressing acne and other scars on your skin. The only type of scar not possible to treat is keloid or raised scars.

3. SUN DAMAGE

Microneedling is effective in reducing the appearance of sun damage, particularly hyperpigmentation and age spots. If you have a blotchy, brownish complexion, which is probably a result of too many days of sunning, microneedling and its ability to stimulate new collagen and skin cells can reinvigorate your look and even out your tone.

4. ANTI-AGING

Aging doesn’t just show up as wrinkles and discoloration. As you get older, your skin loses its elasticity, so it appears lax. Aging skin may also look dull and lack a lustrous glow. Microneedling can change this.

The buildup of collagen that occurs in response to the tiny wounds can improve skin structure to fight sagging. Plus, just 24 hours following a session, you experience a radiant, fresh glow.

5. SHRINKS PORES

Despite the fact that microneedling involves punching holes in your skin, it doesn’t increase the size of your pores. In fact, it helps your pores appear much smaller. When the collagen around your pores is stimulated, the area around each pore plumps, making the pore itself almost disappear.

6. IMPROVES THE EFFECTIVENESS OF TOPICAL PRODUCTS

Post-microneedling is the prime time to apply anti-aging treatments, moisturizers, and other topical treatments that boost skin health and appearance. The micro-holes receive creams, serums, and gels more readily and deliver them deeper into your dermis than when applied regularly.

7. FIGHTS STRETCH MARKS

Microneedling works just about anywhere on your body. It can be effective in reducing the appearance of stretch marks that show up after periods of rapid growth, such as during pregnancy.

8. ROSACEA REDUCTION

The ruddiness and skin thickening of rosacea can be addressed with microneedling. If you suffer from this skin condition, you experience a hastened breakdown of collagen. Microneedling stimulates the growth of collagen to offset and replace this breakdown, so your skin looks less inflamed and irritated.

9. ACNE IMPROVEMENTS

Because of the improved delivery of topical applications, you can use microneedling to help improve the effectiveness of topical acne treatments. Regular microneedling applications at Beth Conroy Acupuncture can help your skin clear up.

10. FEWER SIDE EFFECTS THAN LASER OR INTENSIVE PEELS

Microneedling’s effects are comparable to laser and chemical peel treatments but without long downtime. You can enjoy a glowing complexion 24-72 hours after microneedling, but with laser resurfacing, your recovery may take three to 10 days. Your complexion needs 14-21 days to bounce back after a medium or intensive peel.

FAQs

  • The purpose of treatment is to generate new collagen and skin tissue for smoother, firmer, more toned skin. Microneedling is used to treat a variety of skin conditions that cause depressions in the skin such as acne scarring, surgical scars, other scars, burns, enlarged pores, wrinkles (rhytides), and stretch marks (striae).

  • Effective needle depth ensures that pain is minimal. Most people are not bothered by the sensation and say it feels slightly abrasive. For those that are sensitive, we can pre-numb the area to help ease any discomfort.

  • Mironeedling should be done once a month. It takes that long in between sessions for the skin to go through its complete healing process. You can schedule Nano needling in-between sessions weekly though to help with the process. For collagen induction, we recommend starting with 3 treatments. For scar reduction, an average of 6 treatments are recommended.

  • We suggest a series of 3-4 sessions to see optimal improvement, though you will see and feel a difference after just one session usually.

  • The at-home and cheaper microneedling pens you see on the market are not safe for laypersons’ usage and can cause damage to the skin or possible infections. The equipment we use in the office is medical grade and the serums are of the highest quality all sourced directly from AcuMicro, the leading manufacturer of Microneedling products for professionals.
